RDS6708 is a closed loop radio controlled unit, for remote initiation of munitions and explosives. It comprises of the following units:

  • Transmitter Control Unit [TCU] (MS6708)
  • Receiver Control Unit [RCU] (SL6708) - maximum 20 RCUs can be used with one TCU

Main Features

Safety features

The equipment has numerous safety features such as:

  • Usage of safe switches
  • Two hands operation
  • Unique serial numbers and use of encrypted system
  • Hardware decoding and software based decryption of the firing sequence
  • Arming delay safety timer
  • RCU waits for full authentication of firing command before activation of firing sequence
  • Warning indication through LEDs and LCD
  • Menu entry through keypad

Battery charging options

The equipment has provisions for three charging mechanisms:

  1. Utility power charger
  2. Vehicle battery charger
  3. Solar battery charger

These options make charging of the equipment easy and convenient. It also enables the use of these devices in remote locations where utility power may not be available.

Transmitter Control Unit [TCU]

The TCU is housed in a hand held waterproof aluminum housing. It is powered through an internal battery module.

The TCU has the following features and functions:

  • Communicate with and configure 20 RCUs
  • TCU self-test and battery status check
  • Control of LCD backlight
  • Get status of one or all RCUs along with battery and detonator status
  • Capable of customized firing configuration - an individual, multiple or all RCUs
  • Fire a programmed sequence
  • Neutralize receivers

The TCU has the following external controls, indicators and connectors:

  • Power on/off lockable switch
  • Keypad with 12 keys
  • 4-line LCD display for menu and status display
  • Land line/microwave selection switch

Receiver Control Unit [RCU]

The RCU is also housed in a waterproof aluminum housing. It decodes and executes the commands received from the TCU and acknowledges the status and results back to the TCU.

The detonator is connecting to the remote firing units (RCU). The RCU incorporates a safety delay circuit (five minutes), which allows the user to withdraw from the firing location before the system becomes operational. The TCU can still acquire status information in this delay period.
