Street Light Power Management System

Print PDF

A street light power management system has been designed and developed by Elektro Control Industries. The system will comprise of following three main assemblies:

  1. Transformer Power Monitoring Unit (TPMU)
  2. This unit is used for aggregated power monitoring at each main transformer. This aggregated power consumed will be transmitted through GSM protocol to main data control computer installed at the control center. This unit will be installed with the main power transformer.

  3. Street Lights Power Control Unit (SLPCU)
  4. This unit will provide monitoring of aggregated power consumption and lamp failures on each street. The data transmission of street is made through GSM protocol to the control center.

  5. Main Computer Control Unit (MCCU)
  6. A PC-Based central server called the MCCU will be installed at the designated control room. The MCCU will communicate with the respective TPMU and SPLCU(s). This system will receive the date-wise aggregated power consumption and failure alarm information; it will then store and process the information for display for the user and concerned authority.

Salient Features

The MCCU system will provide the following salient features:

  • Street lights power consumption will be calculated on number of serviceable and operational lights
  • Daily / Monthly Power Consumption Record
  • Street wise
  • Sector wise
  • Hours of Operation
  • Lamps failure alarm to alert maintenance team about streetlight outage or lamp failure
